Bernardo Bertolucci on Huger:
Why do Huger’s images remind me of Alfred Hitchcock’s colour movies of the sixties? If you look through his photographs backwards and forwards you can feel the tension of a mysterious hidden story, one that keeps emerging and vanishing. A light which could be the ordinary light of an ordinary day in an ordinary place, suddenly radiates a dangerous quality. Huger is a storyteller. His characters are rarely visible but their traces are everywhere at the scene of a crime, in the reflection of a reflection, in the detail of a detail, in an interior a bit too orange, in the spirit of an object just abandoned, out of focus. Huger like the great Alfred, knows how to distill his story(s) with fascinating and disturbing accuracy.
